About the CEO

Brandon Smith, Chief Executive Officer

Brandon Smith is a distinguished leader in the security and public safety field, bringing more than two decades of diverse, high‑impact experience to the industry. As the founder and CEO of Mid-Hudson Security Consultants, LLC, he oversees daily operations and ensures the delivery of ethical, reliable, and mission‑focused security services across New York and the tri-state region.

Early Foundations

Mr. Smith’s path began in youth through a deep commitment to service, discipline, and national security. He participated in JROTC, ROTC, the Boy Scouts of America, the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, and multiple Department of Defense–related programs, including the National Security Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF). His achievements earned him the President’s Choice Education Award and recognition as a top student by President Bill Clinton and Lieutenant General Daniel W. Christman.

Despite facing challenges related to a lifelong metabolic disorder—caused by experimental medication in childhood—that placed him under strict weight‑restriction programs, he continued training and gained invaluable experience. He later entered an ROTC bridge program. During that time, an injury and subsequent weight gain prevented completion, but after losing 180 pounds in 2015–2016, he was invited to re-enter the enlistment process—an opportunity he ultimately declined as his career moved in a new direction.

Emergency Medical Services

Mr. Smith transitioned into emergency medical services, serving as an EMT and responding to some of the most challenging and emotionally demanding situations imaginable. He saved lives, delivered critical care, and at times bore the responsibility of informing families of tragic losses. He earned certification in Care Under Fire, applying tactical combat casualty care principles in high‑threat environments.

Cybersecurity & Infrastructure

His career then expanded into cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection. He managed essential systems for both public and private entities and was contracted to interview applicants for national and corporate security clearances—a role he continues today. His work has contributed to safeguarding sensitive facilities and ensuring the integrity of high‑level personnel vetting.

Firearms & Tactical Training

Mr. Smith entered the public sphere as a firearms instructor, training countless armed professionals and civilians. His expertise spans combat shooting, speed shooting, competitive marksmanship, and long‑distance rifle proficiency. He continues to serve as a contracted firearms instructor for a confidential network of police departments.

Consulting & Policy Leadership

In 2018, while recovering from a life‑threatening accident that resulted in prolonged immobility and multiple surgeries, Mr. Smith founded Mid-Hudson Security Consultants. The firm quickly became a national resource for policy development, operational guidelines, and threat assessments. He has:

  • Developed policy and operational frameworks for nearly every major security company in the United States
  • Conducted threat assessments for high‑profile firms, public figures, and celebrities
  • Managed the security posture for major private employers nationwide

Some of his notable clients have included the Federal Aviation Administration, Pfizer, EcoHealth Alliance, Novartis, Bank of America, FedEx, USPS, Amazon, UPS, and many others.

Law Enforcement & Reform

Mr. Smith has served on multiple police reform task forces, where he drafted departmental policy, reviewed training requirements, analyzed use‑of‑force incidents, and personally trained officers. His work has contributed to modernizing policing practices and strengthening community trust.

Current Operations

Today, Mr. Smith operates:

  • Mid-Hudson Security Consultants
  • Two additional security and executive protection entities
  • A DCJS‑approved training academy (Mr. B’s Security Training Center)

His credentials include:

  • Armed Guard
  • Law Enforcement Instructor
  • DCJS General Topics Instructor
  • DCJS Firearms Instructor
  • BLS Instructor
  • Less Lethal Instructor

He teaches cybersecurity, reviews breaches for undisclosed entities, and provides executive protection for celebrities, executives, politicians, and state officials—often in high‑risk environments where police are not assigned. He maintains a CAT team composed of active and retired operators, with faces except his own kept off public channels for OPSEC.

His companies deliver armed and unarmed security services across numerous sectors, including pharmaceutical, nuclear, public utility, retail, executive protection, houses of worship, education, warehousing, and government.

Mr. Smith’s technical and tactical skill set includes:

  • Cyber defense
  • Deception detection
  • Skip tracing
  • Explosives awareness
  • Weapons retention
  • Martial arts
  • Telecommunications
  • Drone operations
  • NBC emergency response certification

Clarifications & Expanded Background

1. Active Shooter Training

Contracted by seven NYC school districts, he developed a peer‑reviewed active shooter curriculum after completing national train‑the‑trainer programs. Competing firms frequently send their guards to him for required training.

2. Firearms Expertise

Active in combat shooting, speed shooting, competitive shooting, and long‑distance rifle marksmanship.

3. Law Enforcement Instruction

Serves as a contracted firearms instructor for multiple police departments. Previously supplied uniforms, radios, and assisted agencies with grant writing to upgrade critical systems.

4. Radio Systems Development

Designed components of P25 radio systems, including encryption and interoperability frameworks, and managed secure equipment disposal prior to public auction.

5. Emergency Services Technology

Designed CAD and RMS system components still used nationwide.

6. 911 Network Management

Managed radio networks for 911 centers across the U.S., training personnel in operations and maintenance.

7. Security Clearances & Government Coordination

Holds multiple levels of clearance with unescorted access to highly sensitive facilities due to prior and ongoing engagements.

Background & Service Record

A comprehensive background check on Mr. Smith spans multiple systems and takes days to compile due to the breadth of his service history. Systems such as E‑Justice or the National Archives would produce extensive records documenting his contributions across emergency services, law enforcement support, and public safety.

His record includes:

  • Six official life‑saving awards earned across various agencies
  • Assisting officers during dangerous encounters
  • Stopping a violent dog attack
  • Rescuing a drowning victim
  • Entering a fatal structure fire to aid responders more than once
  • Backing up law enforcement during critical incidents

These entries reflect a long-standing pattern of stepping into danger to protect others, often without recognition and always without hesitation.

Political Aspirations & Public Following

Mr. Smith’s leadership extended into the political arena beginning in 2015, when he entered the bipartisan process of exploring a run for Congress. Working collaboratively with both major political committees in his region, he positioned himself as a unifying candidate focused on public safety, community reform, and government accountability.

Between 2015 and 2016, his message resonated widely, rapidly building a following of more than 47,000 supporters across multiple platforms. He prepared to file the necessary campaign finance documentation and was on track to formally launch his campaign. Ultimately, he chose to pause his political ambitions to care for his terminally ill mother, placing family above public life.

Closing

The scope of Mr. Smith’s experience is exceptional. When asked about his qualifications, the answer is clear—his background far exceeds the expectations of an entry‑level security role. Over the course of his career, he has managed major northeastern security portfolios for some of the largest firms in the world, including Allied Universal, G4S, Asset Protection Group, and U.S. Security Associates, overseeing complex operations and high‑risk environments across multiple states.

His service record and the reputation he has built have led numerous high‑profile individuals and organizations to seek out his expertise. Among those who have turned to him for guidance or services are state officials, members of Congress, and various political, faith‑based, and other social icons, as well as notable productions sets. This demand reflects both the trust placed in his judgment and the strength of the brand he has cultivated.

Mr. Smith’s leadership style is widely recognized for being direct, brutally honest, and unapologetically unfiltered—a style that has earned him respect across the security, emergency services, and public‑sector communities. Those who work with him know exactly where they stand, and his clarity, candor, and decisiveness have become hallmarks of his professional identity.

Today, he brings that expertise to bear as the youngest Watch, Guard & Patrol (WGP) agency owner in New York State—a distinction that underscores the responsibility he carries forward. Across the state, it is rare to travel more than a few miles without encountering someone in emergency services or security who knows his name, his work, or his reputation for excellence.
