Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Brandon Smith is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mid-Hudson Security Consultants, LLC, where he oversees the company's daily operations, security programs, training, consulting engagements, and strategic direction.

Mr. Smith has more than 25 years of experience in security, public safety, emergency response, training, and security operations.

His interest in public service began at an early age through participation in the Boy Scouts of America, U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, U.S. Army JROTC, and federal youth leadership programs. He later pursued criminal justice studies with a concentration in policing at a SUNY institution. His educational and professional development also included a federal government internship and additional studies in physical security and cyber defense while participating in university-level U.S. Army ROTC.

During his education and internship with federal agencies, Mr. Smith received the President's Education Award and was recognized for his leadership and academic accomplishments, including selection for national-security-focused youth leadership opportunities. 

Between 2007 and 2017, Mr. Smith received six lifesaving awards, in addition to numerous commendations recognizing merit, public service, and devotion to duty.

Due to the nature of Mr. Smith’s career, certain professional experiences, assignments, and affiliations are intentionally not publicly disclosed. 

After injuries prevented him from continuing his original pursuit of a career in federal law enforcement, Mr. Smith redirected his experience toward the private security industry.

Throughout his career, he has worked in contract security business development, client relations, field operations, security officer supervision, training, and security program management.

His professional work has included developing policies, procedures, and instruction involving:

Mr. Smith is also the owner and lead instructor of Mr. B's Security Training Center, where he provides professional training to armed security personnel and law enforcement officers.

As a New York State DCJS-certified security guard instructor and firearms instructor, Mr. Smith combines classroom education with practical application and extensive security experience.

Training provided through Mr. B's Security Training Center includes New York State armed security guard training, annual armed-security training, firearms instruction and qualification, Article 35 and use-of-force instruction, active shooter response, scenario-based exercises, and firearms training and qualification for law enforcement personnel.

His training philosophy extends beyond simply satisfying a regulatory requirement. Mr. Smith emphasizes judgment, legal responsibilities, firearms proficiency, officer safety, communication, professionalism, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

Mr. B's training focuses on what happens when de-escalation fails. Through challenging, realistic training, students are pushed to rise to the occasion—developing the judgment, confidence, and practical skills necessary to protect themselves and others during an active shooter or other life-threatening emergency.

In 2018, Mr. Smith established Mid-Hudson Security Consultants as a safety and security consulting firm. The company's work has included engagements involving organizations such as Pfizer, FedEx, USPS, Amazon, and UPS, among many other businesses and institutions.

In 2020, Mr. Smith expanded the company into contract security services, applying his experience in management, training, supervision, and field operations to the selection, training, deployment, and oversight of professional security personnel.

Mid-Hudson Security Consultants subsequently became a licensed, insured, and bonded New York State watch, guard, and patrol agency.

Today, Mr. Smith leads the company with an expanded focus on physical security assessments, security consulting, contracted security management, professional training, RFP services, security planning, executive protection, and contract security operations.

His philosophy is straightforward:
